Repeat prescriptions will be written at doctors' discretion and are normally for patients on long term treatment. To order one, please mark or write the items needed on a repeat prescription form and drop it at the surgery. Please allow 2 working days for the above.
A postal service is also available for repeat prescriptions if a stamped self-addressed envelope is provided. In this case please allow a week from sending.
Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page after completing a simple registration.
Please note requests for repeat prescriptions will not be taken over the telephone.
The practice supports the NHS recommended 28 day prescribing standards.
We operate a dispensing service from our Cross Street Surgery. Experienced staff are fully trained and the surgery complies with NHS guidelines in dispensing practice.
If you are on regular medication and use the same chemist, you can apply for "batch prescribing" which means you don't have to visit the surgery each time you need your medication.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you contact reception to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
